We want these girls to know that we see them, that they are not alone, and that they can succeed.
The Shona Project supports girls with the challenges they face today, by nurturing their self-esteem and educating, empowering, and inspiring them to embrace their abilities. They provide workshops in schools and communities and a helpful online resource of practical guides for the everyday issues and challenges experienced by girls.
"The Shona Project is about self-empowerment, self-motivation and really building yourself as a person as opposed to a persona online or anything like that."
Why we backed The Shona Project
The issue the organisation is tackling is deeply rooted and one that has the impact to change the lives of a generation of young women growing up in Ireland. Tammy’s personal experience of difficult teenage years means her empathy for and ability to connect with teenage girls facing challenges was compelling. She is a highly motivated, talented, and committed individual, who was ready to strategically grow The Shona Project.
We felt funding and dedicated support at this early stage of The Shona Project’s development would support them to take strategic and focussed steps. We also believed that Tammy could benefit from access to a network of supporters and experts in the SEI Community, as she continues to work to build strong foundations for the organisation for the years ahead.
