Learn from one of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland’s most successful initiatives. Wave Change aimed to support young people in their efforts to build a better future for Ireland.
Wave Change was launched as a Social Entrepreneurs Ireland initiative in mid-2010 to help support socially-committed and civic-minded young people between the ages of 18 and 25 to develop both themselves and their ideas for change. Backed by Atlantic Philanthropies, Wave Change ran from 2011 to 2013, supporting more than 40 young entrepreneurs, activists, and innovators throughout the process.
The Wave Change programme challenged participants to look at themselves, as well as the issues facing communities across Ireland. Encouraging these individuals to question, examine, experiment, and re-engineer solutions to the problems they identified, Wave Change had a transformative impact on the lives of the young people involved. Years on from the end of the programme, Wave Changers are leading national organisations, representing their communities through political office, contributing to local and national debate on issues of importance to them, and establishing social enterprises that in turn are creating substantial social and economic impact.
