Naomi joined Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) in August 2016. As Communications Executive for SEI, Naomi’s focus is to communicate the impact that social entrepreneurs are having right across the country and the potential of a great idea to change lives, with the support of SEI.
Naomi is passionate about storytelling. Prior to joining SEI, Naomi was a journalist with Newstalk radio, a national radio station based in Dublin, for seven years. She has worked as a producer, reporter and researcher on primetime news and current affairs programmes across the station, including The Right Hook, The Pat Kenny Show, Newstalk Breakfast with Ivan Yates and Chris Donoghue, Newstalk Lunchtime and The Moncrieff Show. Naomi has also written for various newspapers and publications, including The Irish Times. She has reported from Haiti, New York, Washington, Malawi and Zambia.
After seven wonderful years, Naomi left Newstalk in 2014 to pursue a life-long dream to write a book. Her book Nowhere’s Child was published in 2015 and became a number one best-seller. The book was the subject of a story she uncovered and reported on for The Pat Kenny Show.
From 2015- 2016 Naomi worked with Dóchas, the Irish Association for Non-Governmental Development Organisations for the European Year for Development. Having grown up in Zambia, Naomi was drawn to the international development sector and the work of NGOs.
Naomi also has a passion for documentary making and writing. She returned to Zambia in 2013 to present and produce a documentary about an NGO. Zikomo Zambia was nominated for the PPI award for ‘best documentary of the year’ in 2014.
Naomi loves to travel, meet new people and hear their stories, and to get out into nature for a hike, surf or swim in the sea.
