There was a huge sense of excitement and pride among our team late last year when we won the ‘Best Social Media Strategy by an NGO’ at the Sockies 2021. Our social media is all managed in-house by our Comms team, and it is most definitely a labour of love!
Having our strategy recognised nationally for its inspiring use across multiple social media platforms was a huge boost and a great recognition of what we achieved throughout the judged period of July 2020 – August 2021.
At SEI, our mission is to find people with solutions to social problems and support them on every step of their journey and our social media strategy is designed to help us achieve that.
From demystifying what is to be a social entrepreneur through a series of ‘dictionary corner’ type posts and graphics to sharing the stories of our programme participants through a series of video diaries, we try to ensure our social media has something for everyone. We always strive to make all our content is as accessible and inclusive as possible through subtitling videos and using alt text.
Other strands of our social media strategy include:
- Inspiring, educating and engaging with people who have ideas to solve social problems.
- Sharing the story of SEI as an organisation and our team in innovative ways.
- Amplifying the stories of SEI alumni.
- Driving traffic to the SEI website at key times of year.
- Continuing to build and share the SEI brand.
Winning a Sockie award has only made us more enthusiastic and excited about developing and sharing new types of content across our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn platforms. Please join us in giving a virtual bualadh bos to all the other Sockie award winners and nominees.
Onwards!
